3D Printing is everywhere. From machines that can create spare parts for machines to 3D printers that can create artificial limbs! Technology is absolutely amazing. Since it’s technology, well, I must have it!! Why?? Noooo, I’m not creating a limb, or even a spare part. I am just creating fun designs and having fun with it.
The 3D Pen uses the latest technology in 3D printing. Using FDM Technology which stands for fused deposition modeling. A technology that has been adapted from Makerbot and 3D systems.
I’ve never thought 3D printing technology can come into our life so quickly. Actually I was a little intimidated by the thought of a 3D printing but after getting up the nerve to try it, I'm hooked!
I didn't have any problems figuring it out, the instructions were very clear and operating it was simple. It has an LCD display where you just push a button to let the pen know if you are using ABS or PLA filament. You can also adjust the temperature of the pen from the same display.
On one side if the pen you have forward and reverse buttons and on the other side you have an adjustment to how fast or slow you want the filament to come out. You never have to take your hand off the pen to use the buttons.
The pen is light weight and comfortable to hold, it's feel like a large ink pen and won't wear your hand or arm out from the weight. There is an indicator light to let you know when the pen is ready. It will glow red while heating and when it is ready to go, it will turn green.
The first time I tried it, the unit was ready in under a minute! The filament goes into the top and when you push the forward button it feeds the filament into the pen. When you want to change colors, simple push the reverse button and the pen pushes it out.
The 3D printing pen also comes with a stand to hold your pen safely when your not using it and some started filament. My first attempt was a butterfly, it was fun to make! No need to be crafty, just have fun with it and soon you'll be hooked.
Teens would love this as well as kids, however I wouldn't let very young children use the pen and supervise whenever children are using it. This is a pen the whole family can enjoy!
